Università Cattolica and Kawai Italia present

The piano at the University

Great music in Milan

Title

The Il Piano in the University Project is the result of an agreement between the Milan branch of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and one of the most important houses in the world of musical instruments, Kawai Pianos of Hamamatsu (Japan). Its promoters are Maestro Davide Cabassi (professor at the Milan Conservatory) and Prof. Enrico Reggiani (director of the Studium Musicale di Ateneo) as, respectively, artistic creator and scientific director. The aim of the Project is to contribute to enriching the musical offer of the City of Milan, according to innovative criteria and methods from a cultural-musicological point of view and of the highest artistic profile:

establishing a chamber music season at the Aula Magna of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. This season will avail itself, especially in the early years, of the participation of established and prestigious names in international piano concert music and, subsequently, will pay great attention to the promotion and enhancement of young Italian and foreign pianists (16-30 years old), first of all (but, in perspective, not exclusively) from Università Cattolica and the Milanese Conservatory;

promoting and disseminating the so-called "piano culture" with various initiatives, whose unitary artistic and cultural-musicological definition will be curated by Maestro Davide Cabassi and Prof. Enrico Reggiani, such as, for example: Masterclasses (hopefully) held by the pianists involved in the concerts and open to all interested students, internal and external to the educational institutions involved in the project;  Meetings of a cultural-musicological nature and oriented in an interdisciplinary perspective, focused on one or more aspects of the program of the concert on the bill, (hopefully) in the presence of the pianist protagonist of the concert or another pianist.
